Part II 2 Peter 3.9

'The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish...' I'm not a scholar of the Bible, just a Christian with faith.

Our voyage to Las Palmas has been delayed again.  The Atlantic has suffered a series of low pressure systems since the arrival of Hurricane Hugo some 18 days ago, making this period particularly difficult for the weather forecasters.  The bottom-line though, the sea conditions across the eastern Atlantic and the Bay of Biscay in particular, are still pretty wild. These delays for me have not been a problem and I was pleased that the skipper on my next boat has put safety and crew comfort before profit; he has lost one fee-paying crew member because of these delays which to me, says a lot about his judgement and business ethic.
Whilst my first posting was a bit long, it has already helped me to prevent sailing again with folk with different agendas and or mindsets. The thought of another fun-less passage has no appeal for me whatsoever!  I'm happy to hang tight until I hopefully find the 'right' team and boat to cross the Atlantic on.

Please keep those comments coming, so until next Saturday 19th October...

  1. I see you are still stuck in port (not the drinkable kind - or you’d be pickled you little pinky....)

  2. Yes sir, still in MK 'Pelican friend'. Some talk of creeping down to Brest until we get a clear window across Miss Biscay. No point in trying to cross it with big seas and wind on the nose, just burn loads of diesel and get thrown around... Hoping the organisers of the ARC will put the registration deadline back from Nov 3rd...
